Abstract

An implicit risk of peri-implant femoral fracture exists in patients with a previous intertrochanteric fracture treated with a sliding hip screw due to an increased life expectancy and multiple comorbidities. Treatment options are conditioned to the preservation or not of the previous implant. Being infrequent injuries, there is no consensus about their ideal management. The aim of this study is to report a case and describe the surgical technique of retrograde nailing for the treatment of peri-implant fractures below a sliding hip screw.
